The MM4 62 GA VHD brings together everything that has made Opticron's travelscopes the number one choice for thousands of users worldwide, delivering on the maxim of "smaller, lighter, brighter, sharper" for anyone seeking a supremely compact and versatile instrument for accurate long-range observation on the move.

Designed and manufactured in Japan, the compact VHD optical system keeps the body to just 230mm (9.1") in length, while lightweight polycarbonate and aluminium alloy construction brings the weight down to 765g (27oz) , about the same as a pair of 42mm binoculars. That means it can be used without a support at magnifications below 20x for crystal-clear, flat-field observation, yet unlike binoculars it will deliver stunning clarity and definition up to 45x when fitted with SDL or HR3 zoom eyepieces. At its heart is a 62mm ED triplet objective paired with a fully multi-coated optical system for maximum brightness and colour fidelity.

The body is fully protected in soft-touch textured NBR rubber armour and is nitrogen gas filled and waterproof, so it copes comfortably with poor weather and rough handling in the field. Focusing is handled by a wide wheel focuser with an accurate 9:1 dual-speed ratio, allowing quick acquisition followed by fine adjustment, with a close focus of 3.9m. A large footprint tripod sleeve rotating +/- 90° with a 1/4" connection gives excellent stability and flexibility of eyepiece position, and a rubber objective lens cover is included.

The MM4 62 is compatible with HR2, HR3, HDF and SDL eyepieces, so existing fieldscope owners can simply transfer their eyepiece across to an MM4 body. For general observation we recommend the SDLv4 15-45x (41280) or the HR3 16-48x (41145).
