Spotting Scope Eyepieces

The eyepiece sets your magnification and affects field of view and comfort. Zoom eyepieces let you vary the power, while fixed wide-angle eyepieces give a brighter, wider view. Swapping eyepieces lets you tailor one scope body to your needs.

Zoom eyepieces, like Swarovski Optik's 20-60x and 25-50x modules, offer flexibility for different distances. Fixed or wide-angle eyepieces, like the Kowa TE-80XW, give a wider, easier-to-find view but just one magnification.

Yes, by fitting a higher-power eyepiece or an extender such as the Kowa TSN-EX16 1.6x or Swarovski Optik ME 1.7x. Higher power dims and narrows the view, and haze limits it, so lower power often shows more.
