Meet Paul Thomson: Capturing Wild Light Landscapes

Meet Paul Thomson: Capturing Wild Light Landscapes

Paul Thomson - Landscape Photographer  - SWO Ambassador

Based in Cumbria, Paul is renowned for capturing the dramatic beauty of the British landscape, drawing inspiration from the rugged scenery of the North Pennines and the Lake District. His work is characterised by a deep appreciation for wild places, changing weather conditions and those fleeting moments of extraordinary light that transform a landscape into something truly unforgettable.

Paul's photography has been featured in Practical Photography Magazine and numerous other publications, as well as appearing on the BBC. He is also a contributor to Outdoor Photography Guide, where he shares his expertise and passion for landscape photography with a wider audience.

Through his popular YouTube channel and the Landscape Photography Vlogcast podcast, he offers valuable insights into photography, creativity and the rewards of spending time immersed in nature. He also leads photography workshops throughout the UK and internationally, including destinations such as Italy and Canada, helping photographers of all experience levels develop their skills and confidence in the field.

At the heart of Paul's work is a philosophy he calls Wild Light Landscapes. It is a pursuit centred around those rare and fleeting moments when light, weather and landscape combine to create something truly special. Rather than simply documenting a location, Paul seeks to capture the atmosphere, emotion and sense of connection that make each moment unique.
